Understand video thumbnails and playback

Know how saved posters help videos appear before they play.

Before you begin

The portfolio owner or a public visitor.

Here’s how to do it

  1. Upload a supported gallery video and wait for the original transfer to finish.

  2. Allow the uploader to finish its preview/poster step where shown.

  3. Reload Work or the public page and check the video’s thumbnail.

  4. Open the video and test actual playback separately from the poster.

  5. If a preview warning appears, check the original before re-uploading; a poster failure does not necessarily mean the video upload failed.

What happens next

A successfully saved poster can display before the video starts.

Good to know

Older videos may have no saved poster, and browser codec support varies. There is no manual poster-replacement control introduced by this feature. Standalone Identity banner uploads are separate from gallery-video poster generation.
